Caged Eagle [Poem]

Writer's picture: Gabe LouGabe Lou

Contemplating elevation

for the past six days,

& doubled up my worth,

since the last chick played

I’m comfortable indeed

in who I am & called to be

so if you need,

I’ll serve them verses

like a plastic tray

but never in a way

that’d make my past convey

that I’m better than you

in any drastic way

I just use poetry

as a passageway

to healthily

release emotions

on each passing day

ain’t have much

when I was young,

it was a classic phase,

a single mom,

who gave all that she had,

Sustained,

two boys that grew respectful

& who’s passions gave

a more purposeful drive,

was God

who mashed this clay

but sometimes,

when I’m feeling like

I’m past delayed

while waiting for a

a comeback, talking drastic change

I realize my mind

can speak sarcastic-lay

so an Eagle, that I am,

but in a plastic cage
