Vanessa called me up

for me to hollatchu, kid

Can’t find the words to say how much

I’m proud of you,

so here’s a poem

Just in case you wonder why

I slid the way I did

You're one smart behind, big-dreaming,

driven ahh Haitian

& I’m here to say congratulations

on your graduation

I wanted to keep it simple

but ain’t wanna be too basic

'cause you deserve it,

you've been workin' hard,

along with tons of patience

I wanna say

you made it to the finish line, true

But I’m pretty sure this ain’t gon stop here,

knowing you.

You gon shake the world

& you don’t even have a clue

But when the going gets tough

just know your fam‘s behind you

Me being proud

would be an understatement

'cause I knew you had it in you

& I knew you was gon make it

Cut off all distractions,

pay no mind to any

hating

& trust that every courtroom

you step into

gon be shaken

I’m not around you now

but consider this a big hug

And make sure you pick up

if they ever put me

in front of a judge

Keep your head on steady

‘cause the going might get tough

But you’re more than capable,

& I believe in you, cuh 💯
