To Love [Poem]
Matthew 22:36-40
to love is to truly love blindly
if you do me wrong, I gotta love you more
even though I cannot see what’s right behind me
or not quite sure
how I would maneuver moving forward
to really love somebody, it is humbling
selflessly, not selfish, in fact
you really make yourself super vulnerable
without knowing
if you’ll get that same Love back
that Love thang,
be more than just a feeling,
it’s fun & all, but definitely ain’t a game
‘cause if you do me wrong
or exude hate
do I Love myself
if I choose not to treat you back the same?
forgive?
man that’s word is so absurd
me?
I rather take some action like a verb
but in return
would I have to relearn
or concern myself with
who will still avenge me
of my hurt?
see love, it’s a
challenge in itself,
‘cause your feelings, they’re definitely justifiable
to Love God w/your heart
& all your mind
might take some time
‘cause how can One I’ve never seen
be so reliable?
this love they say He has
is undeniable,
He understands the cards that we were dealt
If somebody offends me,
surely someone must [held] be liable
for the legitimate
feelings that I felt
when I said "love you more" in the first stanza,
I didn’t mean for you to be a dummy,
but if I love myself
I gotta love you with the strength
to
put some limits
on the access [that] you have to me
Love you too.
